Auxiliary Officers
WHAT IS AN AUXILIARY POLICE OFFICER?
Auxiliary Police Officers are civic minded citizens who volunteer their time to The Police Department. They serve
as the volunteer peace officers and report events that require police intervention.
They provide additional police presence by conducting patrols in UNIFORM . This activity helps fellow citizens
and the police since it is well known that the mere presence of uniformed police officers is enough to deter would
be criminals.
Auxiliary Police Officers are equipped with the same Police Radios that regular police officers use when on patrol.
Therefore you are directly linked to regular police officers at all times.
In order to quality for membership in the Police Auxiliary Program, you:
Must be a citizen of the United States and/or permanent resident of the Ohio
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
Must pass a thorough background check, the extent to be determined by the Cambridge Police Department
Must have high moral and ethical standards
Must be willing to comply with all applicable Police Department policies and procedures
Must never have been convicted of a felony crime or other offenses as determined by the Cambridge Police Department
Possess a current and valid Ohio driver’s license at time of appointment
Must have a strong desire and commitment to serve the Cambridge community and its citizens.
